Static Is a Choice

Most interfaces are still. Not calm-still — dead-still. They wait for you, react late, and forget you the moment you look away.

We think motion is a material, not a decoration. Here is how we use it.

1. Motion Is Information

A transition is a sentence. It says where something came from, where it went, and how the two are related. Remove it and the user has to reconstruct that story themselves.

When an element moves with intent, the interface explains itself. When it teleports, the interface asks the user to keep up.

Motion is information.

2. Respond, Don’t React

There is a difference between software that reacts and software that responds. Reaction is binary: on, off, done. Response has weight, direction and follow-through — it acknowledges you.

Physics-based motion costs almost nothing and changes everything. A spring instead of a jump. A settle instead of a stop.

Respond, don’t react.
